Yesterday the Canadian Real Estate Association released their MLS Statistics. -Click here for the article-
I saw it on the evening news and they gave the impression that the real estate market was actually going down.
The headline is “Canada’s hot resale housing market starting to cool”. I really dislike headlines like these. Could it not just be labeled April’s 2010 National Statistics? But than that would mean one would have to actually read the numbers and form their own opinions.
So how relevant is this report to Torontonians? Let’s take a look at 2 quotes from the report.
“More than half of the decline in activity over the first four months of 2010 from in British Columbia, while activity in Ontario and Quebec remains at or near record levels.”
“Bucking the national trend, price gains continue to increase in a number of major markets in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec.”
In my opinion, I would not base my real estate decisions on this report.
Let us look at the Toronto MLS Statistics next.
